California Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy for California Consumers (“California Privacy Policy”) supplements the information contained in MED Institute’s primary Privacy Policy. MED Institute (“we,” “us,” or “our”) has adopted this California Privacy Policy in accordance with the notice requirements under the California Consumer Privacy Act and its associated regulations (“CCPA”), and any terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this California Privacy Policy.

This California Privacy Policy applies to California residents only and it describes how we collect, use, and share information that relates to you, including through interactions you may have with us both online and offline. For example, when you call our customer service number.

Definitions specific to this policy

The CCPA includes definitions for terms specific to this California Privacy Policy that do not apply to our Privacy Policy, including the following terms:

“Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household. It does not include publicly available information obtained from government records; deidentified or aggregated consumer information that cannot be reconstructed to identify you, or certain information governed by existing federal laws.

“Sale” or “sell” means selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a consumer’s personal information by us to another business or a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.

“Service Provider” means a for-profit entity that processes information on our behalf and to which we disclose a consumer’s Personal Information for a business purpose pursuant to a written contract.

“Third Party” means a person or entity, other than a Service Provider, that collects Personal Information on our behalf or receives it from us.

The Personal Information we collect and disclose

The chart below shows the categories of Personal Information we collect; examples of the type of Personal Information in each category; the types of sources from which each category of Personal Information is collected; the business purpose(s) for which that category of Personal Information is collected; and the types of third parties with whom that category of Personal Information is shared. As this chart shows, we disclose certain Personal Information to service providers and third parties for business and commercial purposes.

Selling Personal Information

We do not sell Personal Information, including that of minors. We may, however, engage in the following activities that are explicitly not a “sale” under the CCPA, including when:

  • Consumers instruct us to disclose their Personal Information
  • A consumer instructs us to interact with a third party
  • We use or share consumers’ Personal Information pursuant to a written contract with a service provider that is necessary to perform a business purpose, where our contract prevents the provider from using, keeping, or disclosing consumers’ Personal Information for any purpose other than the reason supplied in the contract
  • Consumers’ Personal Information is transferred as part of a transaction in which the third party assumes control of all or part of our business
